b.) Who recently got a haircut
c.) Who recently joined the "Just for Men" Club?

Blue Slide Park

It was a not so hot day, so we headed to our favorite park, The Blue Slide Park.

My attempt at being artistic

Another artistic attempt
Even in public...

Felix cruising down the slide
Making good use of the hills in our city
Rex making a spectacle of himself
Felix often talks about learning how to climb a tree when he gets "older". Golly, I feel like a negligent mother when my son claims to not know how to climb a tree. With all the trees in our city, I can't believe this has not become a honed skill. Regardless, we found the perfect tree at the park, so we practiced.

Puppy Slumber Party

The boys decided to have a slumber party with some of their stuffed puppies last night, so Felix slept on the floor by Giant Puppy (behind his head), and curled up close to Giant Puppy is Snarfy snuggled up in a shirt. Puppy was snuggled up in a pair of shorts next to Snarfy, but Rex ended up bringing his most favored puppy into bed with him.

Fun Day

The boys got a kick out of pretending they were wearing painted flip flops...
...and surfing

We hit the Science Center early on Monday to avoid the crowds and had a fun time. We capped off our morning of fun with ice cream and soda at a fun old fashioned ice cream shop where you can still buy penny candy (although most was 15 cents and up). I had a yummy chocolate ice cream soda and the boys had a scoop of their favorite flavors...Strawberry for Rex and Cookie Dough for Felix. They washed it down with some Orange "Pop". We had a communication glitch when I referred to Pop as Soda. At this shop, they use the old fashioned terminology and back in the day, "soda" was a drink with ice cream and "pop" was simply a drink. I did grow up calling soda, pop, but moving west for a while cured me of that.

Squalor

This is often the state of our house. The boys claim to love living in a pig sty and very quickly undo any cleaning that has been done. Even the fish is suffering (although that goldfish is almost 4 years old!) I will say that these pictures were taken on a Sunday and in observance of the Sabbath, we did not clean.

I will blame the state of the kitchen on the remodeling of the 1/2 bath that is currently going on just around the corner. It's almost complete after a really really long time, I can't remember when we started it was so long ago.
The large mirror behind the table fell while we were away many weeks ago and is still just sitting there. Miraculously, the glass didn't break.
Daphne's philosophy: If you can't beat the mess, join it.

Love you Scotty!

Scott is a wonderful Daddy. He plays the craziest games with the boys and really knows how to get them riled up. Here he is jammed (to the point of being mildly stuck) under the bed with monkeys crawling all over him.

Scott celebrated his *@ Birthday on July 30th. We went to an eventful breakfast with the kiddies and ate yummy carrot cake after dinner. The week before Scott received his birthday present when we went to see Tom Petty in concert. Despite the fact that I got called "Ma'am" and Scott, "Sir" by the drunken college students, it was fun. Tom still knows how to rock it out at age 60.

Boys Gone Wild!

The boys hosted an "All Boys Party" this summer. Absolutely no girls allowed. We had 11 boys come and have a blast. Our wonderful friends lent us a large inflatable slide which was the main attraction. They also had water gun fights, whacked a pinata and ate pizza and Popsicles. After the party was over, Felix went out in the backyard then came back in in a sad state to which he stated, "Every time I go outside in our backyard I get sad because I can't stop seeing all my friends at the boy party, but they're not there anymore." I think we'll have to make this an annual occurrence. It was fun!

Seriously, I've got to learn how to use my camera!
