Felix

Felix decided to cut a piece of hair off that was in his eyes. He was due for a trim, so I did that, but may have made it worse. We have to do a major comb over to hide the mishap.We might have to go really short to fix it. I'll see how well the gel and hairspray hold after school to help make the decision on future hair revisions.

Felix lost another tooth! That's number 3. The tooth was loose for months but recently became a lot wigglier and was causing some pain. However, he didn't want to pull it out. Then at school, he said he was whacking his face to be funny and his tooth popped right out! 3 kids have lost teeth in the past 2 weeks during kindergarten in his class. He got a special necklace to wear at school that is shaped like a tooth and opens up to store your tooth in. The toothfairy made her visit last night and we have a date at the store after school to spend his spoil.

Rex

Having Rex home all day without Felix is quite an adventure. Our days consist of a rolleroaster ride of ups and downs. He is one ball of schizophrenic energy.

Today when getting ready for church, he chose a pullover sweater and shorts. He decided he wanted to tuck in the sweater and said, "I like it stuffed in". After "stuffing it in" he decided, not surprisingly, his shorts were too tight, so he put on a pair of pants. The pants were longer than he is used to (I just cleaned his drawer out of his high-water pants) and he said, "These must be Felix's pants 'cause I'm steppin'on them."

My recent splurge. We borrowed a slide just like this from a friend for the big summer boy party and it was too much fun, so I happened to see it on clearance at the end of summer at Aldi.

It's Halloween Everyday in Our House

The boys are often costume clad in our home. Either that or just in their undies. This latest attire is of Felix's creation. He in particular loves wearing only underwear, and apparently wherever he can on his body. From what I understood of this get up, the underwear on their heads acted as protection from a storm and it later acted as a scuba mask during their deep sea dive in the backyard.

Rex Time with Mommy

Rex is a completely different guy when Felix is at school. He is all about keeping busy and wearing me out! The 2nd day of school he kept me busy by insisting on cleaning 2 bathrooms (one he did by himself while I lay in bed for a 10 minute nap!), picked the rest of the vegetables from the garden, then cleaned the veggies, cleaned the fish bowl, looked for a missing cat 3 times, and prepared some fresh corn to freeze. Day 3 of school and everyday thereafter we have been playing Superheros. I'm Saturn Girl and he is Lightning Lad. Any chore I have to do turns into a fight against the bad guys. It's actually nice because I get chores done with his help. For instance, mowing the lawn turns into chopping up the miniature bad guys in the grass, or trimming the bushes turns into chopping off the bad guy branches and putting them in garbage jail.

First Day of Kindergarten

So far I'm not a big fan of Kindergarten. It has only been one week, but I can't stand having Felix gone from 8:30 to 3:30 each day. I think about him all day long and race to the school when it's time to pick him up.

I love my little guy, and am not prepared for this next stage in his life.

He was nervous his first day, but was able to jump right in with a group of boys playing on the floor and say, "Hi!" Day one seemed fine. By day 3, he was ready to stay home. It was hard getting him out of bed. Day 4 was better, but on day 5 he said as I was dropping him off, "Another boring day at school." At least he doesn't chase me down the hall when I leave like another boy in his class (bless his heart).

Felix actually is adjusting well, but we sure miss him at home!!

I had to throw this picture in. I looked out the boy's bedroom window one school day and my heart skipped a beat when I saw this from a distance. I had to go outside and take a picture of my neighbor's trash.

Felix had been excited about riding the bus, but this was as close as he came.

I gladly drove him to school instead.

Hilton Head, South Carolina

Oh the glorious beach! We spent a week at Hilton Head, SC with my sister Julianne and her wonderful family. The kids had a blast playing together. It was hard to say goodbye. We were busy snapping lots of photos so here are some of the highlights of our beach week.

There were tons of living sand dollars at low tide in the ocean. You just combed the ocean floor with your feet until you found one and picked it up and they were still moving underneath. We brought home a dozen of them. Apparently they are protected by law and you're not supposed to remove them...Oopsie!

Felix's pants were too big and kept falling down. Just before the this photo was snapped he said, "Take a picture of this!"

We did a little kayaking on the ocean. Rex fell asleep during his turn and as Scott was bringing him back to shore, a wave turned the kayak and Rex had a rude awakening. He later said, "Next time we come to the beach, never take a boat ride again!"

We passed some stables one day and Rex decided it would be fun to ride a horse, so I jumped at the chance because in the past the boys have been too scared to take a pony ride. I'm just itching to go on a family vacation to a Dude Ranch, so I thought this was a baby step in that direction. The pony ride was twice around the petting zoo, but Rex was done after the first loop. He let me have it the rest of the afternoon for not getting him off the horse before the second loop. And, Felix wasn't interested at all.

I guess I'll have to wait a little longer for the Dude Ranch :(
