The Lone Snowman of Winter 2011-12

This was the only snowman we were able to build this winter.

Felix is 7!

Felix turned 7 on the 7th. Here's a little bit about him:
Loves: sharks, dinosaurs, mechanics,
pancakes, sugar, p.j.'s, non-fiction,
legos, friends, his gerbils
Activities: cubscouts, chess, computer games,
tv, piano, reading, making comic books

Felix is showing off the sparks his scooter makes. (Thanks Grandmas and Grandpas!)

Pine Wood Derby

Felix participated in his first Pine Wood Derby. He didn't place, but was very happy to be awarded the"Most Dazzling" certificate.
Yes, cub scouts can be dazzling, too...as long as they use glitter paint :)

Here he is with "The Flame"

The tiger scouts anxiously await the start of the race.

Daddy Time

Scott recently changed jobs (now working for Pepsi) and has been commuting to work in New York for the past 5 months, coming home most weekends. Hopefully the 12+ hour roundtrip drive will end soon given we are able to sell our house in Pittsburgh and join him out there. We look forward to waking up on Saturdays and seeing him!

Winter...where are you?

Really, sunbathing in January in Pittsburgh?
We are usually enduring 20's and teens this time of year,
but I guess it's been a strange winter for many.

We've had probably 4 days with snow on the ground this season. It quickly melted when the temps rose to the upper 40's or 50's.

Digging for dinosaur bones

We've shoveled the driveway only twice so far.

Not-So-Million Dollar Idea

I was pulling the van into the garage when Felix walked in front of me with his hand up to stop so he could move Rex's bike out of the way...unsolicited. I thought, "Wow, Felix is being so thoughtful by helping without being asked." He then proceeded to wave me into the garage making sure I didn't hit anything. "What a great kid!" I thought. Then, all of a sudden I heard, "OWWWWW-CHHHHH!!!! Mom, you just ran over my foot!" I started freaking out and slowly backed the car a little (all the while Daphne is sitting on my lap, and Rex is walking along side the driver's window telling me some random story completely oblivious to the current situation). I asked Felix if he was okay and what happened. He quickly said he was fine and then added, "I wanted to see what it felt like to get my foot run over by a car, so I put my foot under the tire." To which I shouted, "WHAT?!!!" He then added, "It felt like a foot massage. I like getting my toenails squished." We later had to have a serious discussion about not experimenting with what it would feel like getting his head run over by a car. He said, "I'm done with the car experiments."

Million Dollar Ideas...

Felix's idea: I wish days were seasons and each day changed from Summer to Spring to Winter to Fall. Saturdays would be Summer.

Rex's idea: I wish after we ate our food we could spit it back up and it would turn back into the food and we could eat it over and over again until we got sick of it.
