Happy 5th Birthday Rex!

Wow!  Rex is 5.  Time flies.  Here he is with his birthday gift stash.  First item of early morning business was to open them all up.

Scott was in Connecticut/New York on Rex's special day, so we called our good friends, The Gast's, to celebrate at Burger King that evening.

T-Rex cake for the Birthday Boy

We kept the party small this year and Rex invited 2 friends to go to McDonald's the Saturday after his birthday.  Dad got to come to this party.

Last birthday wish of the year.

We Love You, Rex!

Halloween

Another Halloween behind us...literally and figuratively...(my jeans are a little tight these days.)  The fun started for Rex in Preschool with a Halloween Party.

Then on to the Ward Halloween Party as Waldo, Pippi Longstocking,
Butterfly, Batman and Darth Vader.

Then on to the main event...Halloween Night Trick or Treating...in the rain...Felix with Strep...Daphne with Pneumonia.  They definitely weren't acting as sick as their diagnoses might sound.

Home at last, stuffing their bellies with enough candy to ensure Rex a morning
after puke on the kitchen floor.

Don't forget to brush your teeth!

First Snow of the Season...

October 29th, 2011 gave us a few inches of snow to start off the season.  It was gone by the next day but provided enough powder for Scott and the kids to enjoy a fun little Saturday morning romp
in the backyard.

Fall Pictures...

It's time to update the photos on the wall, so I took the kids out for a photo shoot. They did pretty well considering the trouble maker below...

Shot of the day

The reward for looking cute for the camera is play time at the park on a lovely Pittsburgh day

The majority of the shots went something like this...
Rex

Crazy little sister!
If only everyday looked like this...

the Johnsons Take Manhattan

The kids posing with one of the pieces in the Donald M. Kendall sculpture gardens on Pepsi HQ campus where I work.
Cute picture of Margie and Daphne at the sculpture gardens at Pepsi
A shout out to uncle Todd from one of the 'hoods in his mission (I think?), while riding the NJ transit train into Manhattan
Felix and Rex taking in a headless Lady Liberty from the Staten Island ferry
Walking with the kiddies in the SoHo neighborhood on our way to Washington Square park

Couple cute pictures of the girl in Central Park

Margie and the kids in Central Park, atop a rock the boys discovered, climbing and playing on it for some time.  Felix said he was pondering in this picture.

The boys on the "top of the rock"
Felix and Rex posing with a Lego Statue of Liberty in the Lego section of the FAO Schwartz on 5th Avenue
Felix and Rex "pole dancing," to quote Margie, on a mostly-empty subway car.
The man behind Felix gave no signs of letting their antics interrupt his sleep.
Margie and Daphne riding on the subway

A Dozen Leaves and a Box of Rocks

This is how Felix shows his affection for me...leaves and rocks and feathers. Whenever he is out and about, he picks up the leaves he thinks I'll like and gives them to me. At school during recess, he fills his pockets with rocks and hands them to me when he gets home. I am constantly removing pebbles from the dryer lint trap. If a feather is on the ground...sometimes only a small bit of fluff...he gives it to me. He's very tender. And then other times, like tonight, he says things like, "Ewww! Your breath smells like Ruby's (the dog we don't have anymore)! Ewww! Your breath smells like pizza that's been sitting out for 22 days!"
Thanks, buddy.

Car Ride Conversations

Daphne: .Rex...Rex...Rex...Rex...Rex...Rex...Rex...Rex...Rex...Rex!...Rex!!...REX!!
Rex: What?????!!!!!
Daphne: (High pitched scream...then a maniacal laugh)

Rex: What do I look like, a nit wit?
Felix: No, worse. You look like a goon.

Felix: (in Squidward's voice) I am in misery. Everyone is stinkin' except for me. Spongebob, if I had every one of your brains, you would have none.
