Luckily, we had Felix's birthday party the Saturday before his real birthday, so he was able to enjoy it before getting sick.  He wanted a Winter themed party, so the boys helped me decorate

In the News

Just after Margie and Felix got to the bottom of the hill following Felix's run depicted below, a (professional) photographer approached them identifying herself as being on staff at the Pittsburgh Tribune Review and gathering their names, etc.

This morning their picture is included with an article here on the paper's website.  We'll have to pick up a print copy and see if they're in there, too.

The photographer couldn't have been standing more than a few feet away from Rex and me, but I was oblivious due to Rex's antics, the snow machine, our own camera, and my gloves! : )   Apparently Rex's first day on skis wasn't as photogenic or newsworthy. : )

Ski Day

So, we attempted to take the boys skiing. It was a little scary because we do not claim to be expert skiers by any means, and we have never had a lesson to learn the proper technique ourselves, nevertheless, we thought we'd pass on our novice ski skills to our prodigy much to the chagrin to other skiers, I'm sure. We went to a very manageable hill and the boys did so great! We taught that hill who was boss! A few discoveries we made:

1.) not even a pair of long, awkward skis will keep Rex from throwing an all out kicking and screaming tantrum. (He NEVER wants to ski again!! Which is a shame because he really took to it quickly.)
2.) Little boys are easily distracted by eating snow even when in the middle of a run down the hill
3.) My boys are far more interested in how the skis and boots click off and on than actually skiing.
4.) Scott needs a new pair of mittens ;)

We will keep trying to get the boys on skis. It was really fun even though I yelled a lot.

Merry Christmas 2010

We had a very Merry White Christmas this year. I was definitely happier this Christmas due to the fact that I was not morbidly pregnant! I love holding a baby on my lap on Christmas instead of in my belly. I think everyone was pleased with their loot. Although, upon putting Felix to bed, he said, "I think we're missing some presents." He was either in denial about Christmas being over and wanted more gifts to open...or he was already bored with what he got...why do I bother with new toys!!

We tried a Christmas pagent with our friends on Christmas Eve. The kids were crazy, but cute.

I was so excited about giving Daphne this super soft bunny for Christmas; however, when I gave it to her she started to cry! I'm not giving up! I tuck it under her arm each night when she's asleep in bed.

Winter Fun...

Boy is it cold here, but we've managed to still have some fun. Here are some pictures of the kids in action.

Notice Daphne's blurry foot. This is how we know she sees something she wants to eat or that she is happy with what she is currently eating. In this instance it is a banana.

Thanksgiving 2010

We were so happy to be able to spend Thanksgiving with family this year. It was a quick vacation and lots of fun. I didn't get my camera out much, but here are a few of the limited shots I got.

Taking advantage of all the snow

Temple Square in the snow. The boys were trying to ice skate on the sidewalks. To top off the excursion, Rex fell in a deep, wet, slushy pot hole, drenching him all over! It was traumatizing.

We stayed a night at our wonderful friends the Gilmore's home. The boys enjoyed their backyard.

Reunited with Elsa. We had such a fun afternoon at the swimming pool. It was so sad to say goodbye. (Poor Rex was suffering from some sort of allergic reaction from the chlorine. He had red racoon eyes and was itchy all over.)
